Register your Business with My Food Rules Wizard

My Food Rules Wizard will help you to work out the food safety rules that apply to your business or food activity. If you are a new food business you will also have to register your plan.

If you don't have an existing Food Control Template then MPI (New Zealand Food Safety) has developed a tool – 'My Food Rules' – to help you work out the food safety rules that apply to your business or food activity. By answering a series of questions, you can find out if you need to register your business, who with (and under which legislation), and how to do it.

If you have not registered your Food Business then follow the MPI food rules wizard to get started. This is a New Zealand Food Safety Requirement - if you are a new Safe Food Pro customer then you will need to complete both the:

MPI My Food Rules wizard
Safe Food Pro wizard.

If you already have a Food Control Plan e.g. Simply Safe and Suitable you can just run our Safe Food Pro wizard.

Once the Safe Food Pro Wizard is complete you will get the forms you need based on your Wizard answers.

You will need to understand your Food Control plan and everything you have to do to keep food safe. This will include procedures, staff training and your record-keeping requirements.

Where to Register your Business

If you are not already registered then you can find out who to register with below.

This table shows which organisation you need to register with (this information can also be found on MPI Register a business under the Food Act article). Where you register depends on your plan or programme, the type of business you run, and the location of your business.
